A Cure for the Mondays – Three Nerdtastic Videos

Managing Editor

The week has started once again – whether you have work or school it’s hard to shake the dreaded cloud that Monday tends to hang over us. To help you get shake that feeling and find the sun once more, we’ve got three super nerdly videos for you.

First up is one from The Nerdist channel. In preparation for Ben Folds Five’s first new album together in over a decade, they’ve released a new music video featuring Chris Hardwick, Anna Kendrick, Rob Corddry, Boober, Red, Gobo… yup, you read that right! The Fraggles are back to tell you all to “Do It Anyway,” in this fantastic video. Prepare to dance your cares away below.

This one’s for all you Portal fans. Tumblr user Not-Quite-Normal has been uploading storyboards and rough animation for Portal 2 for quite awhile, so you may have seen her work floating around. This one easily takes the cake (no lie). She’s colored and animated the “You Monster” scene from the game, so if you haven’t played yet and want to avoid a very minor spoiler (I say minor cause the moment is in most game trailers) skip this one. If not – enjoy! It’s GLaDOS, Wheatley, and Chell at their best.

Lastly we’ve got the premiere episode in a new web reality series. It’s the BAMF Girls Club, and it stars your favorite literary, television, and movie heroines doing what they do best whilst trying to live with one another. It’s not only a fantastic spoof of reality television, but the actresses’ parodies of characters like Katniss and Lisbeth are just perfect. The first episode takes a while to get going as it’s the introduction of them all, but as the show progresses the writers have a field day messing with the girls (especially Bella.) Have at it!

Now that you feel better, which video was your favorite? Let us know!

Loved the Ben Folds video. For someone who was a child of the 70s and 80s, (I was 8 when Fraggle Rock premiered on HBO in 1983) it was beyond cool to see the Fraggles back again (even though Gobo’s voice and puppeteer, Jerry Nelson, sadly passed away a few weeks ago). Reminds me of the Muppets appearance in that Weezer video a few years back, which sort of led to them coming back into the spotlight, and now they’ve just had a hit movie, so who’s to say…maybe Fraggle Rock has a chance of coming back in some way, shape, or form. Loved Mokey headbanging, the Boy Gorg tattoos (double pun!), and hearing the theme song at the end.
