A release date has just been given for City of Heavenly Fire, the sixth and final novel in The Mortal Instruments book series. The information regarding the book’s release was recently updated on publishing company Simon & Schuster’s website, which lists the release as May 6th 2014.
There had previously been some confusion as to the exact release of the book after the Shadowhunters app for iPhone and Android users reported that the release would be March 2014. However, it seems that this new release date (May 6th 2014) released by publishing house Simon & Schuster is the correct date.
A synopsis of the novel has already been provided on author Cassandra Clare’s website, which states
ERCHOMAI, SEBASTIAN HAD SAID.
I am coming.
Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in the world can defeat him — must they journey to another world to find the chance? Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last installment of the Mortal Instruments series.
It is expected that the official synopsis and a cover for City of Heavenly Fire are to be released in the near future, but in the meantime Clare has been posting extracts from the book on her official Twitter account- @cassieclare - to keep fans updated with their Shadowhunter fix!
A film adaptation of the best-selling series has already begun and the first installment, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, is set to be released on 21st August 2013. The movie stars Lily Collins as Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland.
