Confirmed: “Community” Returns Feb 7th, 2013

A bittersweet tweet (bittertweet?) from Joel McHale confirms that Community will return on Thursday, February 7th, 2013 at 8pm. Let us not concentrate on the fact that this is oh-my-god-over-three-months-away… for too long anyway.

McHale, who plays Jeff Winger on the show, tweeted:

Is this a clever or a silly move on the part of NBC? Do you think they’ll stick to the premiere date this time?

    Extremely silly move. Community should have been brought back when Animal Practice was cancelled. Instead it’s being relegated to a mid-season replacement series. For the life of me, I can’t understand NBC’s completely condescending attitude towards the show; they seem to abhor shows which are critically acclaimed but not high in the ratings, since it (usually) stops them from cancelling a show outright because they want to be seen as creative and supporting of critical darlings. If they had their druthers, I’m sure they would produce nothing but music contests and forensic detective shows, whatever it takes to sell the most junk to the most consumers with the least amount of inspiration or effort put into it. There just comes a point where you want poor Community to be put out of its misery, because right now NBC is just toying with it like a cat does with a mouse.

    Boo. Boo, I say, and not in a scary, Halloween way. I wonder if we can convince the cast to just start their own show on YouTube. I’m so tired of waiting!
