CW Fall Lineup Revealed

The CW Network presented its fall lineup this morning in NY. Not only will we be seeing five new shows, but the CW has done significant rearranging to its schedule for the 2012-2013 season with only The Vampire Diaries remaining in its time slot from the 2011-2012 season. The press release also noted that they will not be starting the season until early October in an effort to have fewer breaks throughout the season.

From doctors, to superheroes, to fairy tales the new CW shows offer a variety of original programming to support fan favorites like Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and the final season of Gossip Girl. Mark Pedowitz, President of the CW Network, spoke about the new shows at the unveiling in NY this morning

“The dramas we have for next season are outstanding, with relatable characters and breakout stars. ARROW, starring Stephen Amell in the title role, is a bold, edge-of-your-seat action show, based on the popular DC Comics character; EMILY OWENS, M.D. is funny, emotional, and we have caught lightning in a bottle with an incredible lead actor in Mamie Gummer; BEAUTY AND THE BEAST takes a classic love story and adds a procedural element; ‘The Carrie Diaries,’ with the story of a young Carrie Bradshaw set in the 1980s, is perfect for our audience; and CULT is a chilling psychological thriller. We have an unbelievable variety of high quality dramas, all speaking to the 18-to-34-year old audience, set for next season.”

The fall schedule is more cohesive than we generally expect from the CW. Hopefully this is a sign of a move in the right direction for the struggling network. Check out these clips from the first set of new shows airing this fall (Cult and The Carrie Diaries are set to start in January).
