Dragon Tattoo Sequel Delayed

Some latenight news for you movie buffs: fans of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo will be disappointed to hear that the sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire, will not be hitting theaters in 2013, as originally anticipated, according to IGN.

According to the sources cited, screenwriter Steven Zaillian is still hard at work adapting the mammoth novel for the screen. This is good news and bad news. While many would like to see the sequel ASAP (so that a series that does not have enough hype behind it as it is won’t lose even more steam), it is good that Zaillian is taking his time to perfect what many agree is the toughtest of the three novels. Zaillian previously did an excellent job of keeping the pacing,so that will again be pivotal.

Curiously, even though stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara signed on back in November of 2011, there is no director yet attached to the film, though the return of David Fincher is still an option, and one that many (including this writer!) very much hope for.

What do you think? Will the delay in the release be for the best, or will The Girl Who Plays With Fire suffer for it?
