Entertainment Weekly Celebrates Doctor Who’s 50 Years

Managing Editor

It seems like it was only yesterday that we were all screaming piles of fan goo when we learned that Doctor Who was getting it’s first Entertainment Weekly cover. It was a big deal and we flailed for weeks after it was announced.

But one cover is old hat. I mean, one cover? C’mon. Everyone knows that the cool shows all get multiple collectible covers nowadays. And since Who is as cool as bow-ties and fezzes, it’s getting *two* schmancy covers for this week’s issue.

BAM!

It really is gratifying to see the Doctor in his two-cover glory. Also that Cyberman on the red cover is seriously gangster. I kind of can’t handle it.

For our Doctor Who cover story we visited the show on location in Wales, grilled executive producer Steven Moffat about the upcoming episodes and the 50th anniversary special, which is being broadcast this fall, and luncheoned in Manhattan with Smith. In our Who package you’ll also find a breakdown of all 11 Doctors and, perhaps best of all, an essay by Peter Jackson in which the Lord of the Rings director recounts his Who-love and announces his price for directing an episode.

And because Entertainment Weekly must have an office full of nerds, they GIFed a cover for us. Just because they can.

The issue will be on sale March 22nd.
