Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Lionsgate has announced Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence has been signed on to direct both parts of the upcoming Mockingjay two-parter, seeing the Hunger Games adaptations through to the end.
This is highly interesting news, given that we have no idea so far how Lawrence’s directorial style will impact the tone of the series. In any case, Lionsgate must find it promising if they’re willing to commit to him for the rest of the series! Or perhaps Lionsgate wanted to lock in Lawrence after the sudden departure of The Hunger Games’ director Gary Ross?
