Frankenweenie Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, Just in Time for World Premiere

Tim Burton’s latest stop motion endeavor, Frankenweenie, premiers tonight at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. While we wait for the wide release – and I lament being mere miles away from and yet not attending the festivities – Movieline guides us to a behind-the-scenes featurette with Tim Burton.

Movieline sums up the plot rather nicely:

The story revolves around a boy and his beloved dog. After unexpectedly losing his four-legged best pal Sparky, Victor uses his science skills to bring his dog back to life – “with just a few minor adjustments.” He tries to conceal his sewn-up reincarnation, but Sparky escapes and Victor’s schoolmates, teachers and the entire town learn that getting a “new leash on life can be monstrous.”

Originally conceived as a full-length, stop-motion animated feature, budget constraints meant Burton had to settle with a live action short. Twenty-eight years later, his original vision comes to life on the big screen.

Frankenweenie hits theaters October 5, and stars the vocal talents of Charlie Tahan, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, and Martin Landau.
