Hobbit Part 3 Gets Release Date, Title

Managing Editor

We recently told you that Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit, which was set to be released in two parts, has now been split in three. Today, thanks to Den of Geek, we now know the release date and title for the third film!

The third Hobbit film will now be called The Hobbit: There And Back Again and is scheduled to be released July 18th, 2014. Those who have been following along will know that this title was previously given to the second part, which has now been renamed The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Exciting stuff! It’s worth noting that the release of parts 2 and 3 are only separated by 7 months, so fans won’t have to wait long to see the extra film.

What do you think? Have you warmed to the idea of a third film, or do you still wish The Hobbit was two parts? Let us know in the comments!

The more parts the better! :) And yes, 7 months is okay, it’s not as bad as Sherlock…

I agree with lollifant the more parts the better it lets the movie last longer and gets you exited when the next part comes out. I personally am going to spend a whole day watching all three hobbit movies and then all three lord of the rings movies. I think it will be awesome.
the only thing that I don’t like about the hobbit is that the orks don’t look as real as the ones in lord of the rings but they still look pretty real so its not that big of a deal to me but orther than that its probably the best series of movies/best book I’ve ever seen.
