It seems like it was only yesterday that the first press images of Amy Pond were released by the BBC, but fans of Doctor Who are now preparing themselves for the imminent departure of the beloved Ponds. Karen Gillan spoke to the Daily Record yesterday about filming her last scenes for Doctor Who, and her plans for the post-Pond future. She told the Scottish newspaper:
“We don’t film in chronological order so the last shot we filmed was me, Matt and Arthur going into the Tardis. Then Matt closed the door for the last time and we were in darkness. We hugged and started crying. It was kind of tears of happiness. It was a feeling of ‘Look at what we’ve done’. It was lovely.”
Karen also admitted to stealing a pair of binoculars from the TARDIS set as a reminder of her time on the show, as she’s not allowed to keep any Amy Pond memorabilia. Although we’re sad that she’s leaving Doctor Who, her next role will be a leading one! She’s set to play Jane Lockhart, a struggling author, in the film Not Another Happy Ending which is currently still in pre-production. You can read the full article here.
