LeakyCon Comes to London in 2013

We are pleased to announce that next summer you can find LeakyCon in not one, but two wonderful cities! LeakyCon announced on Wednesday that they would be coming to Portland next summer. During today’s Leaving Feast our founder Melissa Anelli announced that – in association with Alohomora – there will also be a LeakyCon in London, England!

The Portland LeakyCon will be the last weekend in June 2013. The London LeakyCon will be August 8-11, 2013. Registration for both will open September 1st.  Price for basic and RockStar passes is yet to be revealed! Stay tuned to LeakyNews for more info!

    It’s great that those “over the pond” get to experience LeakyCon without making the long and expensive trip to the States. However, I wonder if this won’t dilute the experience a bit? The American fans will, for the most part, attend the Con in Portland, and the British, French, German, etc, fans will attend the Con in London. There won’t be that mingling of fans from all over. And no matter where the Con is held, there are going to be disappointed fans who question why the whole thing couldn’t have been held in their city. If you live in Australia, for instance, London isn’t exactly any better of an option then Portland, Miami, or Chicago. The whole idea of having two conventions will undoubtedly enable people to attend who otherwise wouldn’t be able to, but I guess I kind of see it like Disneyland and Disneyworld; two theme parks created on two different coasts so more people could enjoy the experience, but also lessening the experience by making Disneyland no longer unique. I feel like this idea falls under the heading of “noble intentions”, but that one or both of the conventions are going to suffer as a result of it. That’s just my two cents, though…

      The solution of course would be to switch to the Isle of Portland instead of the US city ;)

      I see your point but I think LeakyCon has been predominately American fans so Portland is for those of us Yanks who can’t swing an overseas trip but London is the exciting city and a reach out to the second largest group of Leaky fans.

        LeakyCon is probably predominantly American fans because it’s predominantly been in America before now though lol.

      Also, Harry Potter is British so it would make sense to have at least one convention in the UK.

    LONDON! YES! I think it’s going to be the best yet because the fans here are some of the biggest. I think its going to be great because it’s coming to the heart of the Harry Potter fandom and this it where Harry is based and created. THANK YOU
