This evening the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games took place in London and featured a battle between Lord Voldemort and hundreds of Mary Poppinses, a history of Britain from the very first fields right through the Industrial Revolution, World Wars and up to something that looked a bit like a musical, dancing, social-media episode of skins. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling made an appearance, reading just before the villains of children’s literature crept out of the dark but most curiously of all, some of us thought we heard the sounds of a TARDIS. Could it be?
