Marvel Villain Set to Appear on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel revealed today that Ian Quinn, played by David Conrad, will return in the all-new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode “Seeds.” And he won’t be alone. One of the guest stars slated to appear is Dylan Minnette, who’ll be portraying Donnie Gill, a name fans of Marvel comics are sure to recognize.

The official synopsis states that in “Seeds,” along with Agents Coulson and May discovering more information about Skye’s past, the team is “swept into a storm at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy.” In the comics, Justin Hammer gives Gill a suit that allows him to create freezing temperatures and ice, which he wears and uses under the alias “Blizzard.” Will Gill be at the Academy causing trouble? Most likely.

This is a great development, as AoS is consistently weaving canon from the comics and movies into the series in ways that complement the canon that the show is setting up for itself. They’ve already had a guest appearance by Nick Fury and story lines based on the characters reacting to events from the movies: the team dealing with Iron Man’s Extremis serum, Hulk’s gamma radiation, and Captain America’s super soldier serum via the Centipede devices, and cleaning up after the fight Thor had with Malekith. So while we don’t know for sure that this Donnie Gill gets his suit from the Hammer Industries of Iron Man 2, I would not be surprised if that turns out to be the case.

“Seeds” airs Tuesday, January 14, at 8:00 pm EST, on ABC.

Nice to see them including more content from the comics universe, it’s been bizarre how they have essentially ignored it for material so far.
