Today on Harry’s (and J.K. Rowling’s) birthday, Scholastic revealed the final cover from artist Kazu Kibuishi. The unveiling was done at their flagship in New York City, at a birthday celebration for the boy who lived. In attendance were Kibuishi, editor Arthur Levine, and LeakyNews! (But if you follow our instagram, you already knew that.)
Here, in all of its glory, is the final cover.
Kibuishi spoke about how he wanted to emphasize the importance of the core friendship of the story, hence why the trio is together on this cover. He also chose the color palette as a nod to Mary GrandPré’s original.
Scholastic also unveiled two additional pieces of art.
When all 7 books are placed together, the spine reveals a beautiful rendition of Hogwarts.
The art for the box set itself, showing a bustling Hogsmeade, was also debuted.
(Fairly reminiscent of Hogsmeade at the Wizarding World in Orlando, right?)
We also got a book trailer, just released today, for these new editions.
In honor of Harry’s birthday, Scholastic also had live magical creatures, a roaming Hagrid to take pictures with, and special edition signed lithographs and book plates for those who pre-ordered the set.
These new editions will be available for sale on August 27th.
