NY Times Covers ‘Hunger Is Not a Game’ Campaign

This morning the New York Times released an article about the Harry Potter Alliance’s ‘Hunger Is Not a Game’ campaign, which is spearheaded by our good friend Andrew Slack. Andrew also helped to co-found the HPA, along with Paul DeGeorge of Harry and the Potters, and our very own LeakyNews founder and webmistress, Melissa Anelli.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among fans about global food justice issues, and specifically wants people to sign Oxfam’s GROW pledge. Imagine Better is even having fans gather pledges at the midnight releases for the Hunger Games, which is out this Friday.

The article goes on to talk about the HP Alliance’s Imagine Better project, how it was founded, and the truly extraordinary things that fans have accomplished over the years thanks to the power of Andrew Slack’s particular brand of fan activism, or ‘cultural acupuncture,’ as he calls it. No doubt we’ll be hearing more about Imagine Better soon, and we wish them all the best in their campaign.
