Official Doctor Who Premiere Date, New Trailer, and Mini-sode Announcement

Managing Editor

While we told you last week that Steven Moffat had all but confirmed Doctor Who‘s return date to be Saturday, September 1st while at the BFI screening in London, people were still hesitant to accept that as fact.  However, the BBC confirmed today that it is indeed the correct date. In addition, BBC America and Canada’s Space channel also confirmed that they will air Asylum of the Daleks on that date as well.

Here are your channels and times:

UK: BBC One at 7:20PM

US: BBC America at 9/8c

Canada: Space at 9PM ET

BBC America also gave us another trailer with some new footage.

It’s got a little bit of everything, doesn’t it? Daleks, Angels, dinosaurs, River Song, and even a hint at the long rumoured trouble in paradise between Amy and Rory.

And speaking of our favourite couple – the BBC also has announced that they will be debuting the first of 5 mini-adventures called “The Pond Life” online, on Monday August 27th.

Chris Chibnall [writer] commented, ‘Pond Life provides us with a lovely opportunity to catch-up with Amy and Rory since we saw them at the end of the last series.  It opens with the Ponds at home and gives us an insight in to just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives.  Travelling with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.’

You can read more about those here.

That’s quite a bit of Doctor Who to salivate over.  What are you most looking forward to seeing in the coming season?
