Editor

At San Diego Comic Con today Deadline revealed that there have been developments in the negotiations of both Wicked and Jersey Boys coming to the big screen. According to Deadline, Universal is in talks with director Stephen Daldry (Extremely Loud and Incredible Close, Billy Elliot) for the screen adaptation of Wicked and Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens) is in negotiations to direct Jersey Boys. Not much is know about the Wicked film yet, but Deadline goes on to discuss the scene adaptation of Jersey Boys saying

John Logan has written the latest draft of the script for Jersey Boys: The Story Of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons after book writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice wrote  the script. That project has been a high priority since it was acquired by GK Films’ Graham King and Tim Headington, who are producing with Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio serving as executive producers.

It is still in the very early stages, but we will keep you up to date in the months to come with news about the Wicked film. With recent film adaptations of musicals such as Mama Mia, Hairspray, and the upcoming Les Miserables the genre seems to be on an upward trend. What do you expect from the Wicked adaptation?

Have to say, not excited AT ALL about Daltry. Extremely Loud was one of the worst movies I saw last year. I wish Baz Lurhmann was still doing it like the rumors said a few years ago.

Although, I’ll happily eat my words as long as he casts Kristen Bell as Galinda.

I would hope they would approach Wicked like they did Rent; using the original broadway cast in the movie.

Ahhh finally! The original cast wouldn’t work unless they did a 2-way casting for each and reworked the show to be more like the book, where the first act is college years and the second act they’re in their forties. I just want a Wicked film! Broadway actors would be preferred, but at this point if they don’t put pop stars in it I’ll be pretty pleased that it’s happening at all.

I’ve always said a Wicked film in the style of the Wizard of Oz would be amazing. That whole painted back drops that look painted feel, not quite real but that one step away from filming the stage version.
