The long summer is over. The extra two weeks of agony due to the delayed CW season is behind us. That’s right folks, The Vampire Diaries returns tonight to the CW. Without a doubt one of the most topsy-turvy shows on television, The Vampire Diaries likes to throw plot at us like nobody’s business, but at its core TVD is lovingly predictable. Here are 5 things we will undoubtably see in tonight’s premiere. (OK, some of them might not happen tonight but they will definitely fit them in next week). 1. Bonnie will attempt some witchy mojo to stop Elena’s transformation
This one is pretty much a no brainer. In every bad situation the team’s first option is a Bonnie fix. Will she succeed, no. In numerous cast interviews everyone has been referring to Elena as a vampire. We can pretty much guarantee that the transformation will be completed.
2. Damon and Stefan will fight
These brothers are really good at having spats and we should see a big one in the season premiere. I think it will be a verbal spat in the first episode, but will lead to violence later in the season. If I were Damon I would be pissed, really pissed. Seriously, who saves Matt Donovan over Elena? I know, Stefan lets Elena make the decisions, but there comes a point where that needs to stop. Listen Stefan, Elena might not be pissed at you right now, but the rest of us are.
3. Damon will be drinking
The man loves his whisky.
4. Tyler will take his shirt off
I guess this is a cop out since we already have a still from “Growing Pains” (Season 4 Episode 1) which proves this to be true, but it could not go without notice. TVD features a plethora of young men whose abs rival those of Olympic athletes, but somehow Tyler Lockwood has become the Taylor Lautner of TVD. Can anyone remember an episode of Season 3 where Tyler didn’t take his shirt off? I sure can’t.
5. Damon and Elena will get into a fight
Oh, I really hope they fight after she remembers all the lovely things he said to her. When Elena got turned at the end of Season 3 we all thought of her remembering Damon’s necklace speech, so it better freaking happen. Although, it’s likely they’ll fight over something petty.
Disclaimer: It is exceedingly difficult to find a picture of Damon and Elena fighting that doesn’t look like they’re about to make out. They really have great chemistry.
One thing we can’t predict, what is going to happen to Matt Donovan? Damon will hate him for living when Elena didn’t. In fact he will probably hate himself for the same reason. Matt will also feel a heightened sense of responsibility for protecting Elena. I really hope we get to see some insight into Matt’s mind. It is not going to be an easy season for him. Hopefully he becomes more of a ninja and just starts killing off bad guys like crazy. Whether you are at work or at school today will be long, but have no fear TVD will soon be here.
