Earlier this month our favorite vampires, hybrids, witches, and oh yeah Matt Donovan headed back to Mystic Falls to begin shooting season 4 of The Vampire Diaries. With the start of filming and a star studded trip out to San Diego for Comic Con 2012 the Vampire Diaries news has just kept coming this month.

In addition to the news executive producer Julie Plec and the cast revealed at Comic Con, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Grace Phipps of The Nine Lives of Chloe King will be headed to Mystic Falls. Phipps will play 16-year-old April who has moved back to Mystic Falls but has a history with Jeremy and Elena. It’s about time there were some more humans on The Vampire Diaries and it will be great to see how long April can remain unawares to the supernatural craziness that is Mystic Falls. Refreshingly, EW reports that Phipps is a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Though The Vampire Diaries has many parallels to Buffy the cast has said in countless interviews that they have never watched Buffy, maybe Phipps will get them to finally get them to sit down and watch it!
