We have finally arrived in Haven, Maine. I was told that Haven was a place for troubled people and we may be late to the party, but we’re here now and that’s what matters. Last thursday at New York Comic Con I wandered into the Haven panel not sure what to expect. I had never seen the show, but it was the big panel of NYCC on Thursday night and it looked like fun. I wasn’t wrong. The cast and creative team behind this Syfy channel original drama were charming, passionate, and downright hilarious. At one point Lucas Bryant whipped out a guitar and he, Eric Balfour, and Emily Rose performed an original tune about the show. They had me there, hooked on a television show I had never seen. Here’s the full video from NYCC. Skip to the 24 minute mark for the song. A Haven fan wedding was also performed at the panel. Yeah, it was crazy.
It’s 7 days later and thanks to Netflix I am caught up with the series. I’ve got Naudrey feels, questions about the barn, hatred for Jordan, and all sorts of things to express so I’ve come to my Haven of LeakyNews and will be doing weekly reviews of the rest of season 4 of Haven for your pleasure and to help me deal with my trouble, which is apparently an inability to stop thinking about this show.
If you have never watched Haven here’s a brief rundown. The series is based on the Stephen King novel “the Colorado Kid”. It is set in Haven, Maine, which is a town with a lot of secrets. Some people in Haven have special abilities that are uncontrollable and often dangerous. They call these folks troubled. The story focusses on three friends Nathan (Lucas Bryant), Audrey (Emily Rose), and Duke (Eric Balfour) who help the town of Haven control their afflictions. The first three seasons are currently available on Netflix. I highly recommend you give it a try. Haven is a well written, gripping supernatural show with a lot of heart. If you are afflicted like me you won’t be able to stop watching it.
For those of you who have been watching Haven since the beginning please excuse my lateness and let us know what you love about the show and what you are looking forward to this season in the comments. This is an introduction to Haven post so go light on the spoilers if you can. Tonight’s new episode is going to be action packed and my first review of spoilery goodness will be up tomorrow. Then we can talk about you know who and you know what, but for now go catch yourself up on this great show. You will fall in love. Make sure you’ve got some pancakes at the ready.
Haven airs Friday at 10/9c on Syfy
